Sheltered Housing Officer - Part Time
£25,878 per annum FTE (£9,791 pro rata) | Greenacres Court, Midsomer Norton | Site-based
Permanent | Part Time | 14 hours per week
Your Support. Our Community. Safer, Independent Lives.
Moving into Extra Care is a big step. For the older people living in our schemes, it means keeping their own front door, their own routines and their independence, with care and support close by when they need it.
As a Sheltered Housing Officer, you'll be a familiar, trusted face on site. You'll help residents manage their tenancies and their money, keep the building safe and bring people together. You'll work alongside on-site care teams, colleagues across Curo and partner agencies, so residents get joined-up support and always know who to turn to.
This role is 14 hours a week. We'd love to spread these across three days, for example 5, 4.5 and 4.5 hours, so residents see you more regularly through the week. If two 7-hour days would suit you better, we're happy to talk about it.
What you'll be doing
Getting to know residents and agreeing support plans that help them keep their tenancy and live independently
Helping residents maximise their income and manage their rent and other responsibilities
Carrying out alarm, fire and health and safety checks, keeping accurate records and flagging hazards
Spotting and reporting safeguarding concerns, then following them through
Working with care providers, partner agencies and colleagues so residents get the right support at the right time
Organising social events and groups that help residents connect with each other and the wider community
More about you
You're at your best when you can see the difference you make. You listen, you're patient and you encourage people to work towards their goals while respecting their choices. You take pride in doing things properly and you're a supportive member of the team.
You don't need to have worked in sheltered housing before.
Essential:
Experience of working one-to-one with customers in supported housing, social care or another community-facing role, including carrying out risk assessments and developing support plans
Confidence building relationships with partner agencies to get the right support for residents
Clear written and spoken communication, with the ability to adapt your style for different people
Confident keeping accurate records using IT and mobile tools such as iPads and Microsoft Office
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Organised, able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
What you'll get in return
Beyond a salary of £25,878 (pro rata) and the chance to make a real difference every day, you'll get:
26 days annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) rising to 29 days after 3 years, pro rata
Your birthday off as an extra holiday
Up to 10% matched pension contribution
Flexible benefits which might include a Health Cash Plan
Access to an Employee Assistance Programme for your own wellbeing

About Curo
We're one of the largest landlords in the South West, with a diverse portfolio of affordable and market rented homes.
We own and manage more than 14,000 homes; properties that our 28,000 residents call home. We’re building hundreds of new homes every year for rent and sale.
We provide award-winning support services to a wide range of residents, including homeless young people and families, older and disabled people, and those affected by mental health issues or memory loss.
As a housing association we have no paid shareholders. We create profit for purpose, reinvesting the surpluses from our commercial house-building business into our core social purpose.
