Plumbing and Gas Foundation Engineer - Build Your Gas Ticket With Us
£37,997 per annum | Bath-based, covering Bath, North East Somerset and Bristol
Permanent | Full Time | 40 hours per week
Every Home. Every Customer. Every Visit.
Behind every job on your list is a customer waiting for you. Sometimes it’s a leak that’s been driving them mad for a week. Sometimes the heating’s gone out and they’ve got young kids at home. Either way, they need someone who knows what they’re doing and treats their home with respect.
We’re recruiting a Plumbing and Gas Foundation Engineer to join our Property Maintenance and Repairs team. You’ll bring an NVQ Level 2 in heating and plumbing and hands-on experience to match. We’ll bring a fully funded route to becoming Gas Safe registered — and the work, the team and the support to get you there.
The pathway is structured. A foundation qualification at gas college, delivered in week-long blocks one week a month for six months. Then around twelve months building a portfolio of gas work on the job, with qualified engineers around you. Then back to college for sign-off and your ACS exams. We pay for it. You qualify with Curo.
What you’ll be doing
Carrying out heating and plumbing repairs, servicing and installation within your current qualifications — gravity and pressurised systems, S and Y plan, unvented cylinders, radiators
Diagnosing issues accurately and explaining what’s needed to customers in plain language
Making properties safe where a full repair isn’t possible on the first visit, and booking the follow-up
Shadowing qualified gas engineers and building a portfolio of gas work in preparation for your ACS exams
Attending gas college one week a month for six months to complete your foundation qualification
Supporting wider home safety checks alongside the qualified engineer — smoke alarms, fire doors, thermostatic mixing valves, unvented cylinders, asbestos and Radon
Carrying out a dynamic risk assessment on every job and working safely throughout
Keeping accurate records, managing your van stock, and looking after your equipment and vehicle
What you’ll get in return
Beyond a salary of £37,997 and a fully funded route to becoming Gas Safe registered, you’ll get:
A company van for use during working hours, taken home each day
26 days annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) rising to 29 days after 3 years
Your birthday off as an extra holiday
Up to 10% matched pension contribution
Free parking at many of our locations
Flexible benefits which might include a Health Cash Plan
Access to an Employee Assistance Programme for your own wellbeing
More about you
You’ve got your NVQ Level 2 in heating and plumbing and the hands-on experience to back it up. Whether you came up through college, an apprenticeship, or worked your way up on site, what matters is you can do the work — and you’re ready for what comes next.
For you, that next thing is gas. You’ve been looking for a structured route in without going self-employed or paying for it yourself. That’s exactly what this role offers.
You’re also up for the study. You’ll be doing the day job and the college work side by side for the best part of two years, so you need to want it.
Essential:
NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in heating and plumbing
G3 unvented hot water qualification
Practical experience of heating and plumbing work, including gravity and pressurised systems, S and Y plan, unvented cylinders and radiator work
A genuine commitment to completing the gas foundation qualification and progressing to ACS
A full UK driving licence
Confident with mobile devices for managing jobs and records
A basic DBS check will be required for this role
We value transferable experience. If you’ve worked in a private plumbing or heating company, contractor, or housebuilder and you’re looking for a structured route into gas with steady customers and proper support — we’d love to hear from you.
