Help us Build Something. Not Just Fill Something.
At Curo, we believe great recruitment is about more than filling vacancies. It's about finding people who share our purpose, treating every candidate with care, and building the confidence of our hiring managers to make good decisions independently.
We're not tweaking a process — we're building something new. We're moving towards a model where hiring managers across the organisation are equipped, supported and confident enough to lead their own hiring. That means developing structured frameworks and toolkits, introducing new assessment approaches, designing a certification programme for managers, and shaping a careers platform that genuinely reflects who we are. This is a TA function in transformation, and we need someone who wants to help build it.
You'll deliver hands-on recruitment across specialist and management roles, coach hiring managers to recruit well on their own, and help develop and embed the tools and processes that will define how Curo hires for years to come. You'll also take full ownership of the recruitment operation during a planned period of senior absence — running the show, not just keeping it ticking over.
This is a role for someone who gets genuine satisfaction from helping others hire better — not just from placing candidates.
What you'll be doing
You'll split your time between delivering recruitment campaigns and building the capability of others to do the same. On any given week, that might look like:
Partnering with hiring managers on specialist and management campaigns — guiding them from approval through to offer acceptance, not just handing them a shortlist. Writing job adverts that sound like Curo, not like a template. Screening applications, running telephone interviews and preparing evidence-based shortlists that give hiring managers confidence in the process.
Coaching managers who are new to recruiting autonomously — helping them use our frameworks, toolkits and systems, and giving honest, constructive feedback when things need tightening up. Supporting the development and rollout of our assessment approach and contributing to our hiring manager certification programme as it takes shape across the organisation.
Using AI tools and technology to find efficiencies, improve the candidate experience and streamline how we work. Monitoring recruitment metrics and feeding into performance reporting.
And during a planned eight-week period of senior absence, stepping up as the primary point of contact for all recruitment activity — managing live campaigns, maintaining service levels and keeping things moving.
Why Curo
We're a leading South West housing association with social purpose at our heart. We provide affordable homes and create positive futures across Bath, Bristol and Wiltshire. We're proud to be among the UK's top 100 companies to work for, and the 5th best housing association nationwide.
That purpose runs through everything — including how we hire. We treat candidates the way we'd treat our residents: with honesty, empathy and respect. If that matters to you, you'll fit right in.
Beyond a salary of £50,000 (pro rata) and the chance to do work that genuinely matters, you'll also get: 26 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) rising to 29 after 3 years (pro rata), your birthday off, up to 10% matched pension, hybrid working, flexible benefits including a Health Cash Plan, and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
More about you
You've worked in an in-house talent acquisition or recruitment role, managing multiple campaigns at the same time. You know how to partner with hiring managers — not just take a brief, but genuinely guide them through the process and build their confidence to make good decisions.
You're organised, detail-oriented and comfortable working autonomously. You write clearly and persuasively, whether that's a job advert, a candidate email or a shortlist recommendation. And you're curious about technology — you see AI tools and new platforms as opportunities, not obstacles.
Essential:
In-house talent acquisition or recruitment experience, managing end-to-end campaigns
Experience using an applicant tracking system to manage recruitment workflows
A track record of coaching or supporting hiring managers on recruitment best practice
Experience designing selection tools such as interview frameworks, scoring criteria or assessment processes
Strong written communication skills in plain, accessible English
Comfortable working with recruitment data and metrics
Desirable:
Experience using AI tools to improve recruitment processes or build content
Background in housing, public sector or not-for-profit organisations
Experience supporting the rollout of recruitment technology platforms

About Curo
We're one of the largest landlords in the South West, with a diverse portfolio of affordable and market rented homes.
We own and manage more than 14,000 homes; properties that our 28,000 residents call home. We’re building hundreds of new homes every year for rent and sale.
We provide award-winning support services to a wide range of residents, including homeless young people and families, older and disabled people, and those affected by mental health issues or memory loss.
As a housing association we have no paid shareholders. We create profit for purpose, reinvesting the surpluses from our commercial house-building business into our core social purpose.
