Join Curo in a pivotal governance leadership role, supporting our Board, Committees, and senior leaders to uphold high standards of corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
What will I have to do?
- Work closely with, and support, the Assistant Director of Governance and the General Counsel & Group Company Secretary in ensuring the smooth operation of Curo’s governance framework, working with colleagues across the business as appropriate to do so. Act as a key point of contact for Board and Committee members.
- Manage and develop the Governance Assistant and the Executive Assistant(s), fostering a culture of high standards, accountability and continuous improvement, and thereby ensuring that Curo’s Board and Committees are all properly and professionally serviced.
- Prepare reports on governance and other matters as requested by the Assistant Director of Governance and the General Counsel & Group Company Secretary.
- Act as Secretary to key governance forums – these might include the Combined Board and/or subsidiary boards, and Committees of the Board - ensuring timely, accurate and well-structured papers and minutes.
- Leading on the coordination and delivery of the Group’s annual ESG report, and otherwise for corporate reporting (such as the Modern Slavery Statement).
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation and good practice (including Code of Governance and regulatory changes).
- Train and develop colleagues towards a strong understanding of governance matters.
- Take responsibility for all corporate registers, supporting colleagues (including the Governance Assistant(s)) with the same.
- Take responsibility for Governance-related policy and processes (including training for colleagues re the same), ensuring they are up-to-date and fit for purpose.
- Work closely with the Assistant Director of Governance and wider Assurance team, Health and Safety Manager and Data and Insight Manager to ensure good working relationships and a robust overall approach to compliance.
- Promote a safe and positive working environment in line with Curo’s Health and Safety policy.
What do I need to be successful?
- Have at least two years governance experience a regulated environment, and ideally (although not essential) a related qualification such as a law degree or part-qualification of the Chartered Governance Institute’s company secretary qualification programme.
- Sound understanding of company secretarial and governance practices, with strong drafting and minute-taking skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, with proven ability to influence senior leaders, and a customer-focused attitude.
- Politically astute and comfortable operating at senior levels, with the confidence to influence and challenge appropriately.
- Excellent communication skills, including listening and questioning and an ability to summarise.
- High standards of work and attention to detail, balanced with an ability to focus on what is really important.
- Ability to manage a team, develop a culture of continuous improvement and delegate work effectively to ensure wider team resilience.
- Work collaboratively across teams, building effective relationships, while being confident to work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities.

- Obtain feedback from my customers, peers and my manager about my effectiveness in delivering my services, as well as how I deliver them
- Be able to demonstrate the service improvements I have delivered with tangible results that show success
- Demonstrate that Curo is fully compliant with relevant regulation and applicable law
- Successfully meet the KPIs and objectives agreed for myself and my team
- Deliver my services within my allocated budget and evidence sound budget management through the year.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of Curo’s governance maturity and a culture of continuous improvement.
